FAQ’s

Below are some questions I have gotten over the years. If your question isn’t answered here, please email me at canebrakestudio@gmail.com and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.

If I buy something from you, when will it be delivered?

Every wood product I offer for sale is made by hand, and sometimes may be made to order. I generally ship all in-stock items within 48 hours of receiving the order; made to order items ship within a week of receiving the order unless the product lead time on the product page gives a different lead time. When the item ships, you will receive an email with a tracking number. In most cases, two weeks from order date is the latest an order would take to arrive, unless it had a longer lead time notification on the product page.

What does “Made To Order” mean?

It means it’s not an item I have in stock, but that is made after it is ordered. I strive to make and ship these items within a week of receiving the order, but some items take longer and have lead times listed on the product page. If you need it by a specific date, reach out to me and I’ll let you know what a realistic timeline is.

Can I exchange or return the thing I bought from you?

Email me at canebrakestudio@gmail.com and include your order number to inquire about return and exchange inquiries. If it’s our mistake, I will happily refund your money within 30 days of purchase. Minor “imperfections” due to the nature of handmade goods are not a basis for returns. All sales on custom and personalized goods are final.

My product has a minor imperfection; is this refundable, or just part of the whole “handmade” thing?

One thing I love about working with wood is that no two pieces are ever the same. This is not a bug, but a feature – each piece is uniquely itself, and unlike any other. And I don’t use CNC devices or lasers or robots to make anything I sell – each piece is all handwork, and as such, imperfection is part of my aesthetic. There are places where you can buy 100 of an item and they all look the same and are technically perfect. But none of those places will be owned by me. So, yes – the minor imperfections are a sign of craft, and are not a sign of failure.

Why are these items so expensive? I can buy a wooden spoon at Dollar Tree!

These items are handmade, and are made with care from sustainably harvested domestic hardwoods. The simplest spoon takes me almost an hour to make this way – you won’t see spoons like this at Dollar Tree.

I need something ASAP – can I pay extra for express shipping?

Maybe. The shipper is not the only factor in our being able to meet such a request. Email me at canebrakestudio@gmail.com and we can talk about it.
